  • Google Sheets is a free and easy to use cloud-based spreadsheet program that can allow students to collaborate with one another on a spreadsheet in order to practice the skills taught in this lesson.

  • Encourage students to research basic information for US Presidents (the website for the White House, whitehouse.gov, is a good resource). Students should work in pairs or in small groups to build a spreadsheet to enter this information. Students should apply filters for such information as political party, state of origin, month of birth, et cetera. Students can then use the spreadsheet to find patterns in the data and present their findings.
S.5.b Students collect data or identify relevant data sets, use digital tools to analyze them, and represent data in various ways to facilitate problem-solving and decision-making.
S.6.d Students publish or present content that customizes the message and medium for their intended audiences.
2-DA-08 Collect data using computational tools and transform the data to make it more useful and reliable. (P6.3)
